L
Visas
(Intracompany
Transferees, L1 Blanket Petition)
An L intracompany
transferee nonimmigrant visa is available for multinational companies
seeking to transfer high-level and essential employees from overseas to
provide similar services to a related entity in the United States.
L1 Visas (Intracompany
Transferees):
According to the Immigration and Nationality Act, L1
status is available to persons who have worked abroad for one continuous
year within the preceding three years in an executive, managerial, or
specialized knowledge capacity and who are being transferred temporarily to
the United States to work in a similar capacity in a related business entity
or for the same business. The L1 Blanket is a
petition which, if approved, permits intracompany transferees to apply for
L1 visas directly at U.S. consular facilities abroad without the prior
approval of an individual petition.
