Non-Immigrant Visa
All visa applicants must schedule an appointment for the interview trough
the Visa Information Center (+86) (21) 3881-4611. The Visa Information
Call Center is a user-pay service and the charge is 54 RMB for 12 minutes
or 36 RMB for eight minutes. Any unused minutes can be reused at a later
time or transferred to another party. All nonimmigrant visas are issued on
the same day of the final interview.
All NIV applicants must submit the
following documents when applying for a non-immigrant visa:
- Complete two application forms DS-156,
one in Chinese and one in English
- All applicants 16 years of age and
older must complete two application forms DS-157, one in Chinese and one
in English
- F, J, M applicants and their
dependents must complete two DS-158 forms, one in Chinese and one in
English
- Two recent color passport-sized
photographs (2" x 2"). The photograph of each passport or visa applicant
must be an unmounted full face photo, taken within the past six months.
A "full face" photo is one in which the applicant is facing the camera
directly. The applicant should not be looking down or to either side,
and the face should cover about 50% of the area of the photo. Although
variations in hair styles and in head coverings (see discussion below)
make it difficult to rigorously define the term "face," in general, the
head of the applicant, including both face and hair, should be shown
from crown of the head to tip of chin on top and bottom and from hair
line side-to-side. It is preferable that ears be exposed. The key
requirement is that the photograph clearly identify the applicant.
- Passport endorsed for travel abroad
and valid for return to China or re-entry into another country. Business
travelers, tourists, and other short-term visitors must have a passport
valid for at least six months after the intended date of departure from
the U.S.
- Non-refundable application fee of RMB
830 payable at designated branches of CITIC Bank. Both copies of the
CITIC Bank fee receipt must be included with all visa applications.
